Learning Neelakantha Meditation

Online 'Distance Learning' Now Available
Instruction for Neelakantha Meditation is traditionally an in person process. However in these unprecedented times, when people are unable to connect and learn in person, Blue Throat Yoga has adapted its protocols in order to make this practice available via video learning in a very conscientious and respectful way.
  • As with in person learning, the practice is taught over the course of two or more sessions on multiple days.  After learning online, you will then have access to the benefits and ongoing support available to all Neelakantha Meditation practitioners.
  • As soon as it is safe and possible to do so, students who receive the practice via distance learning then meet with an Authorized Teacher in person to continue to support their practice.
Learn the practice of Neelakantha Meditation through formal personal instruction then enjoy 18 months of access to materials and support from Blue Throat Yoga to establish and deepen your practice.
Formal personal instruction consists of at least two sessions on separate days.  In these sessions you will learn the practice itself, how to use it properly, and the basic principles of how it works to support you as your practice progresses.
18 months of support is available to you after you learn the practice.  You choose what materials to engage with and when, in the comfort of your own home.  See below for further details.

Instruction takes place in 2 or 3 sessions over at least 2 days.

First session:

1½-2 hours.  You can schedule this at a convenient time during the week, including in the evening or on a weekend.  In this initial session you first receive an overview of the practice and how it works.  If you are learning the practice with others, everyone will join together for this initial session.  Then each person will learn the practice itself on an individual basis.  This formal personal instruction takes about one hour per person.  Before our next meeting you will have time to meditate at least once or twice on your own before the instruction continues.  Note that the teaching weekends designated on the schedule are not the only opportunities to learn the practice.  I am happy to schedule additional teaching days during the week or on different weekends as available.

Second session:  3-4 hours.  The second session can be the day after our first meeting or a couple of days later.  Again, you can schedule this during the week or on a weekend.  If you prefer, this can be two shorter sessions -- for example, two evenings or two weekend mornings -- of about 1½ or 2 hours each.  You will learn the fundamental principles on which the practice is based and how and why it works.  We will also discuss what to expect as you practice over time, creating your home practice, and how to support your practice including taking advantage of follow-up support over the next 18 months.  We will meditate together and have time for questions.

By the end of these sessions you will have all you need for a fully self-sufficient practice of deep meditation.  At that time you will gain access to a full range of support through Blue Throat Yoga to answer questions that arise, help you navigate challenges, and support you in establishing a lifetime transformative practice.  Your participation is optional and entirely flexible.  You can join teleseminars live when that fits into your schedule, or listen to the recording later if you choose.  You decide which materials to engage with and when.  You have full access to all materials for 18 months and can download whatever you like for ongoing support.
The 18 months of support includes:
  • Live Meditation Practice Teleseminars with Q&A -- join live or listen to the recording later
  • Extensive online library of pre-recorded teachings & study materials
  • Instruction in support practices and japa mantras (for recitation)
  • Answers to questions via email, live teleseminars, and FAQ audios
  • Opportunity to attend transformative Meditation Retreats
  • Translation & commentary of key foundational texts by Paul Muller-Ortega, Ph.D.
  • Attendance at Day 2/Key Teachings of any Neelakantha Meditation weekend at no additional cost
  • Invitation to local gatherings open to all Neelakantha Meditation practitioners
Course support is offered through Blue Throat Yoga.
